Chocolate already has several medicinal qualities but a sweet treat is designed to alleviate pre-menstrual syndrome in women. It could offer an excuse to pamper without any guilt. The dark chocolate called CocoPMS truffles claim to alleviate the agony of PMS thanks to two anti-inflammatory compounds called chaste berry and bilberry.

In addition to reduction in headache and stomach cramps, the constituents give chocolate a flavor of berry. About one in three women suffer from PMS two weeks prior to menstruation. It is occurred due to change in the levels of hormone progesterone in the body. It symptoms range from mild stomach cramps and fatigue to emotional upheavals.

The CocoPMS chocolates, is produced by US firm Xan Confections. According to Xan Confections chief executive Susan Johnson, they are very excited to be leading the way in the niche market of healthy chocolate by combining high-quality truffles with nutrients they are personally interested in. They are part of a healthy chocolate range including CocoHeart, which claims to help maintain a healthy heart.

CocoPreggers is permeated with folic acid to benefit mothers-to-be. CocoPreggers is a direct result of my three pregnancies, explained the firm’s president Kerry Johnson Anthony. They realized a product combining debauched chocolate with DHA and folic acid would be a natural, and soon after CocoPreggers was born. CocoPreggers truffles contain two hundred micrograms of folic acid and omega-3 fatty acid.

Chocolate has always been seen as an indulgence, rather than a product that can help certain medical problems. Eating chocolate to benefit our hearts or have a healthy baby or lessen the symptoms of PMS is a pretty novel idea. Afterwards women will now have an excuse to eat chocolate without feeling terribly guilty, explained Jane Barnett, innovation consultant at Mintel.
