In order to protect the kids from poisonous matters, parents need to vacuum and wet mop their homes regularly advised researchers. In the list of methods to limit the dangers of exposure to chemicals at home, dusting is at the top. Chemicals in the home are associated with learning and behavioral disorder, asthma and birth defects.
The added commendations to diminish exposure include switching to non-toxic cleaners and to be aware of potential toxins in plastic and some types of fish. The children and pregnant women should stay away from rooms when they are being refurbished to avoid revelation to dust and poisonous fumes from paints and glues.
According to Prof Bruce Lanphear from Simon Fraser University, Canada, house dust is a major source of exposure to toxic matters in kids, including lead, even at very low levels. This exposure is known to be damaging to the developing brain. A newborn will absorb about fifty percent of ingested lead, whereas an adult absorbs about ten percent of ingested lead.
The particles of lead that could be absorbed by the body were found in all tested homes with values ranging from eight to four thousand parts per million. This, united with recurrent hand-to-mouth behavior of kids, places at which children at much greater risk, revealed a dust study released by Health Canada.
The time of greatest susceptibility is in the womb. If parents take simple measures in these areas, they can significantly diminish exposures of their kids to toxics substance and even save money, explained Erica Phipps from the Canadian Partnership for Children’s Health and Environment.
A clean environment is one of the greatest gifts that can be given to your children and grandchildren. It makes sure they have the greatest chance of success, both in their early developmental years and all through their lives, stated Ontario Minister of the Environment, John Wilkinson, who approved the recommendations.
