One in ten couples sleeps separately after birth of first baby

The paternity changes everything and there are a mounting number of parents those refusing a shared bed and preferring to sleep apart, found a novel study. One in ten parents sleep separately after the birth of their first baby and more than third sleep apart at some time in first year to make assure good night sleep.

In a study researchers investigated the sleeping pattern of more than two thousand parents subsequent to childbirth. The finding of the study showed that a budge in parental contribution with a rising number of fathers getting up in the night to care for their baby. Three out of five turn their attention to their baby if it cries or in grief the night.

A third of parents stated that they take it in turns. The investigation for retail exhibition called The Baby Show also revealed a quarter of mother stated that they had take over the counter sleeping remedies with one in night ongoing to take them for about eighteen months.

Just six in ten coupled admitted that they shared a bed every night. With more women returning to the work place parents are more and more sharing work and caring household tasks, which means both mother and father need to get a good night’s sleep.

The couples crossways the country handled varying amount of sleep. The parents from Manchester topped the survey with an inspiring eight hours, while in Birmingham they got a healthy seven hours of sleep. But stressed-out parents from London scraped by on just three hours of sleep a night.
