The experts have invented that the optimal number of eggs to reap from women, who are going through fertility treatment is fifteen. It was also found that taking more than fifteen eggs is not only unsafe but no more effective also. The new invention offers the best chance of survive birth.
The numeral of survive births turns down when less number of eggs are salvaged from an ovary of a woman during cycle of IVF. The chances of success began to fall that stabilize between fifteen to twenty eggs. When more eggs are taken from ovaries, then is mounting threat of complications from over-stimulation of the ovaries in drug treatment.
The problem of ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome can cause pain, oxygen starvation, weigh gain and infrequently hazardous blood clots. It can be lethal in more severe cases. The researchers from the University of Sheffield conducted the first major investigation of egg number in IVF treatment and rates of live birth.
They investigated the statistics of more than four lakh IVF cycles carried out in UK in years 1991 and 2008. They used an arithmetical technique to create a predictive model based on age of women, numbers of eggs retrieved and numbers of live births. Usually one or two embryos are returned to the womb with remainder frozen as eggs.
According to leading fertility expert Dr Allan Pacey, senior lecturer in reproductive and developmental medicine, the findings of the study would probably be of more use to doctors than potential patients. It will be edifying for people undergoing IVF. Several women do not respond to fertility medications and some have very low ovarian reserve.
But it will be useful for IVF doctors and they need to be looking at live births. There are far too many studies that look at pregnancy rates and sadly pregnancies are not always successful, added Dr Pacey. The study was published in the journal Human Reproduction.
