Women who regularly drink coffee could be defending themselves against odds of an aggressive form of breast cancer, suggest the latest study. Women who often enjoy coffee are far less prone to develop oestrogen receptor negative breast cancer especially those drink five cups a day.

In a study carried out by experts from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, analyzed the statistics of about six thousand women those were past the menopause. They found that women who drank five or more cup of coffee a day had fifty-seven percent diminished threat of breast cancer in comparison to those drank less than one cup a day.

It was revealed that coffee drinkers had lower occurrence of breast cancer than women who hardly ever drank the beverage. The daily high intake of coffee was found to be associated with a statistically significant decline in oestrogen-receptor negative breast cancer among post-menopausal women, concluded experts. Other aspects like age and weight of women were also taken into account.

The earlier studies have recommended that coffee drinking can slash the risk of other cancers, including those aiming liver and the prostate. The experts from the Karolinska Institute alleged the coffee could contain composites which affect diverse types of breast cancer in diverse ways. It is potential that coffee fuels oestrogen-receptor positive breast cancers but reduces the risk of oestrogen-receptor negative breast cancer.

Another study has suggested that coffee may actually cause cells to multiply or prevent them from being repaired. The experts stated that further were required. The study was published in the journal Breast Cancer Research. Several fruits and nuts contain a compound which could prevent breast cancer cells proliferating.
