The major risk factor behind the heart disease is hypertension. The researchers are able to make a two-in-one pill for treating hypertension, which could save thousands of lives. The outcomes of the study may likely to change the method doctors treat the condition.

The problem of high blood pressure affects millions of people universally and is major hazard aspect for heart attack and stroke. The sufferers of hypertension are usually provided with one drug to begin with and add other if required over a period of months. Hypertension is a widespread condition that affects around one in three adults.

If the condition left unimpeded, it augments the threat of heart as well as kidney disease. The condition can be cured by lifestyle changes like eating healthy diet and regular workout, however, medication is frequently required as well. It is best to begin the treatment with two drugs together at the same time, showed the Accelerate study from Cambridge University.

The Accelerate study smashes the mould for treating high blood pressure. The majority of patients can now be prescribed a single combination pill and know that they are optimally protected from heart attacks and strokes, lead researcher Prof Morris Brown. The study led by Prof Bryan Williams from the British Hypertension Society, which involve twelve hundred and fifty hypertension sufferers.

The results of the study show that beginning treatment with two drugs aliskiren and amlodipine in a combination pill generates a twenty-five percent better response in patients than conservative monotherapy. It is suspected by researchers that taking the medicines in sequence allows the body to neutralize each of them in turn and may prevent this from happening.

This study is significant and the findings could change the way they move towards the treatment of high blood pressure.
