Green tea may ward off dementia, guard against cancer

In a novel study researchers have claimed that green tea could protect the brain against Alzheimer’s and supplementary types of dementia. The study also recommended that the amazing drink invented in ancient China could play a significant role in protecting against various forms of cancer.

According to lead researcher Dr ED Okello from the Newcastle University, the exiting thing they found was that when green tea was assimilated, the resultant chemicals were really more effectual against major stimulators of the condition. Those assimilated composites also contained anti-cancer properties which considerably decelerated the development of tumour cells.

Those two composites which play an important role in the growth of Alzheimer’s are hydrogen peroxide and a protein called beta-amyloid. Earlier studies had shown that polyphenols which are there in black and green tea attach together with the toxic compound and help in protecting the brain cells.

When swallowed, the polyphenols are busted down to generate a blend of composites and it was those the research team tested in their study, reported the study published in the academic journal Phytomedicine. Green tea has been conventionally used in Chinese medication for centuries and they have given the scientific proof about the effectiveness of it in some key diseases of today.

There are noticeably many other aspects such as good diet, healthy lifestyle and plenty of exercises all are significant and they collectively have an influence on the conditions like cancer and dementia.  However, according to Dr Okello, it is fair to say that at least one cup of green tea daily may be good for you and he would definitely advise it.
