In the UK, girls on reaching the age of ten are now showing the first signs of puberty. The causes of early puberty in girls are not well understood by researchers. But a group of international researchers revealed that as a minimum thirty genes seem to play a significant role in the age at which girls reach puberty.

The research team scanned the genetic code of more than one lakh women. Early puberty was associated with raised risk of cancer in women in their later life. Some experts have suggested a connection between early puberty and obesity. The most recent research conducted by Reprogen group of researchers from US, Europe and Australia, supports this idea.

Amongst thirty genes emphasized by their genome research, some were already related to fat metabolism and weight regulation. But it is not yet apparent if being obese in childhood is the reason of early puberty or is just one more result of a different device.

Moreover, the research does not demonstrate the quantity of the risk is caused by genes and how much other ecological factors like diet and upbringing are responsible. Holding huge accumulations of fat would signal to the brain that it had sources to start reproductive cycle of a woman, recommend Dr Anna Murray from Exeter University.

They found that timing of puberty is associated with fatty acid metabolism alleyways. There is proof that brain can sense these types of body fats. In addition to the bewilderment experienced by young children entering puberty, it brings other health risks in the longer term added Dr Murray.

Early puberty intended a higher risk of female cancers, especially breast cancer. This was potentially due to lifelong exposure to sex hormones oestrogen, explained Prof Anthony Swerdlow from the Institute of Cancer Research. The lack of good diet and exercise in early childhood might be critical to health many decades later. They progressively believe that the risk for breast cancer starts very, very young, even before puberty.
