For the period of four weeks they consumed foods that were supposed to reduce substandard inflammation in the body.

The trail diet was high in antioxidants, wholegrain products, omega fatty acids, probiotics and viscous dietary fibre. The foods they eaten were oily fish, barley, soy protein, blueberries, almonds, cinnamon, vinegar and a certain type of wholegrain bread.

The results of the trail showed that bad cholesterol was reduced by thirty-three percent, blood lipids by fourteen percent and risk indicator for blood clots by twenty-six percent. An indicator of inflammation in the body is also diminished greatly, though memory and cognitive functions were enhanced.

They hope that these findings on healthy topics will motivate extra anticipatory efforts in society. Inflammation is supposed to be a major cause for chronic ailments and can cause cells to turn cancerous, explained Prof Björck.
