In a new study researchers from Harvard Medical School in the US revealed that males who consume plenty of saturated and mono unsaturated fats which are found in eating products like butter, sausage and olive oil are prone to have low sperm count.
But they found that people who consume diet rich in healthy fats such as omega 3 and omega 6 that are found in food groups like fish and nuts had more healthy and active sperm. Saturated fats are found in sausage, processed bacon, ham, dairy and butter, while mono-unsaturated fats are found in items such as olive oil.
In a study trail researchers divided a group of males into three based on their intake of saturated fats. They found that a group of males that intake highest amount of saturated fats had forty percent fewer sperm than those in those who took the lowest.
The outcomes of the study were presented at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine conference in Denver. They were competent to show that for men who took in higher amounts of saturated and mono-unsaturated fat, there was a connection with decreased sperm concentration, explained lead researcher Jill Attaman.
He added polyunsaturated fats, those seen in fish mainly was related with enhanced sperm morphology and motility. Morphology relates to the size and shape of the sperm and is an indicator of fertility.
