The mixture of depression and coronary heart disease is considered the most lethal than any other condition unaccompanied, revealed researchers in a study. People suffering from both conditions could be four times more prone to expire from heart disease, said French and British team of experts.
Health experts should pay more attention to the problem of depression in patients of heart disease. In a study trail done in the British Whitehall Study II, which looks at social and economic factors in long term health, more than six thousand men and women who were civil servants took part.
Their physical and mental health was tracked by the research team from the University College London and the University of Versailles, for the period of five years, reported the study published in Heart journal.
The results of the study trail showed that people suffering from heart disease alone had seventy percent higher chance of dying from any reason than those who were without heart disease and depression. But the mixture of depression and heart disease tripled the risk of death from any reason and quadrupled the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease.
The study is based on the previous research that proposes, the depression is associated with coronary heart disease, explained, a senior cardiac nurse Amy Thompson from at the British Heart Foundation that partially supported the study.
If someone feeling low then enjoying regular workout and eating healthy diet can help, this could sound good for your mental as well as heath health. Whether or not you have heart disease, if you feel depressed then it is necessary to talk to your doctor, added Amy Thompson.
