In new study researchers claimed that more than ten thousand cases of breast and bowel can be prevented each year if people regularly did brisk walking. The team of researchers from The World Cancer Research Fund said that moderate activity which makes the heart beat faster should attain the same results.

Earlier study data proposed that forty-five minutes of moderate exercise a day could prevent more than five thousand cases of breast cancer. It was the total time spent being active was the most important, stressed the WCRF team in their report. Short session of activity will be as beneficial as long because they add up to the same.

Together with brisk walking, other activities like cycling, swimming, dancing, gardening and other household works would also be counted. By making few changes to their daily routine people could attain significant health benefits, explained Dr Rachel Thompson the head of science from WCRF.

He added that there is strong evidence that show being active is significant for preventing cancer. You need not to go to the gym every to attain benefits. You can decrease your risk of cancer, just by making small changes to your lifestyle.

People should take walking as hobby, they should even walk to shop instead of taking car or bus and they can really make difference to their health. You do not have to be an athlete to reduce your cancer risk.

There are strong evidences that certain cancer like breast cancer and bowel cancer are less common in people who do regular moderate exercise like brisk walking, explained Henry Scowcroft, science information manager at Cancer Research UK.
