In new study researchers have discovered a key method through that virgin oil will protect your body against breast cancer. Previously the research was performed on animal models which revealed that a rich diet in fats is associated directly occurrence of cancer. But now researchers have already started the research with human cell lines.

Certain type of fats can act as shielding agents against the development of some types of tumours. The virgin oil is such that contains rich amount of oleic acid and mono unsaturated fatty acid. Virgin oil also contains many types of antioxidants which are called as bioactive composites.

The Spanish researchers from University Autònoma de Barcelona set out to find why existing studies had associated with an olive oil rich diet in lowering the chances of various cancers. In trail over mice they have found that olive oil spoils a gene that coerces the enlargement of breast tumours.

The regular and moderate use of virgin oil is linked with low occurrence of specific type of cancer like breast cancer and it also protects DNA from damage that can lead to cancer. Moreover, it plays a protective role against coronary heart disease by turning down genes connected to hardening of the arteries and protects from other health related problems.

By knowing which gene can be amended by diet in a healthy way can help people to select healthy foods, said researcher Dr Maria Isabel Covas from Institute Municial d’Investigacio Medica in Barcelona. The olive oil which is a keystone of Mediterranean diet suppresses the activity of proteins like AKT, on which cancer cells depend on to stay alive.

The study is revolutionary because it shows that olive oil and a Mediterranean diet affect our bodies in a far more significant way than previously believed, said Dr Gerald Weissmann, editor-in-chief on the FASEB journal that published the finding.
