Kombucha tea has been hailed as miracle tea which tastes like vinegar juice, capable to fight cancer, treat arthritis, ward off infections and even help to lose weight. This miracle drink that contains primeval roots is gaining popularity as an effectual health remedy which kindles your immune system.
Kombucha tea is served cold as iced tea and is easily available in packed bottles at grocery stores. The miracle drink can also brew at home by adding Kambuca to sugar and black tea then allow the mixture to ferment. The prepared liquid contains B vitamin, vinegar and number of chemical composites.
Even as the trendy liquid contains large quantity of bacteria though is attributed with health benefits ranging from detoxification of body to curing indigestion, arthritis pain, eczema, kidney stones, insomnia and even cancer because of its chemotherapeutic characteristics. Regular drinkers of magical tea claim that it normalizes blood pressure, immune system, improves eye sight and help to shed extra weight.
However there is not sufficient evidence that Kombucha tea provides health benefits but one thing is sure that this drink acts as a gentle intoxicant that kindles the body to function healthier. Regardless of the craze, health experts warn there have been reports of harm and illness surrounding the tea including allergic reactions, rashes, nausea, vomiting, jaundice and stomach upset.
Additionally the miracle tea has been associated with toxic reaction if it is stored in ceramic containers which leach chemicals into the liquid. Because the drink is often prepared at home under non-sterile unhygienic conditions the risk of infection is higher.
Until more is known about both the health benefits and harmful effects surrounding this type of tea, consumption should be viewed with caution. There is little scientific evidence available in the literature to support the beneficial effects of this tea, said Dr Emma Williams from the British Nutrition Foundation.
