Breast cancer risk can be lowered with fish oil

In a new study researchers have found that taking Omega-3 fatty acids supplement can help in decreasing the risk of developing breast cancer. In earlier studies Omega-3 fatty acid supplement has been recommended for increasing the functioning of the brain and for treating cardiovascular problems. These are found naturally occurring in fatty fish.

According researchers individual eating at least two serving of the fish each week can get required amount of fatty acids necessary for keeping the best health. In study conducted by Emily White of the Seattle based Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center exposed the prospective benefits of the omega-3 fatty acid supplement.

They interviewed 35,016 women about their usage of food supplement. All through the coming six years eight hundred and eighty women developed breast cancer. Researchers analyzed that women who were taking fish oil supplement regularly had 32 percent reduced risk of developing invasive ductal breast cancer.

The most common form of breast cancer among women is invasive ductal breast cancer. In this condition cancer invades the milk duct of woman’s breast. The fish oil is considered to be a natural anti-inflammatory agent and it is believed that inflammation plays a key role in the development of breast cancer.

The fish oil supplement alone can not be recommended for the purpose of preventing breast cancer but seeing its other benefits it is well worth that a person starting a fish oil regimen.
