In a new study researchers claimed that mother who have high blood sugar during pregnancy are likely to give birth to babies with low sensitivity to insulin. From experts point of view resistance to insulin is the central part of the metabolic chaos that can cause obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease in babies in their later lives.

To confirm the relationship between high blood sugar during pregnancy with the increased risk of diabetes in babies, researchers demeanored a study trail. They engaged twenty-one kids aged between five to ten years and considered their insulin resistance. The medical records of their mother were also checked in order to get obvious depiction of their motherly blood sugar attention during oral glucose test.

The results of the study showed that the more eminent blood sugar level of the mother during pregnancy caused her baby to low sensitivity to insulin. There was reverse formation between blood sugar of the mother and the baby. This malfunction to reply to insulin represents a major risk for type 2diabetes.

The most common bodily result of obesity is the expansion of insulin resistance.  Researchers renowned that reduced insulin sensitivity were not linked to amount of fat stored in the body. Baby in mother’s womb come in contact with high blood sugar level have more secretion of insulin after a meal.

While high secretion of insulin is not linked to the hormone resistance but it can cause a possible risk for the development of type 2diabetes afterward. This study suggested that children’s increased risk appeared to be due, at least in part to their parental exposure to relatively high maternal blood glucose, said study author Paula Chandler-Laney.

She further said that high maternal blood sugar during pregnancy might have lasting effects on children’s insulin sensitivity and secretion, potentially raising the risk of type 2diabetes .
