People who eat snacks behind the wheel while driving their cars are putting their health under the risk. Microbes linked with food poisoning, skin infection and vomiting were found in checks that were carried out on vehicles by researchers. In testing the swabs taken from an archetypal family car they discovered microbes’ bacillus cereus and staphylococcus in steering wheel, door handles and gear stick.

Bacillus ceruse is microbe that figure spores which may lie latent till perfect state like turning on of the car heater, parking the car in the glower of the sun or leaving the food that allow it to burgeon quickly scattering infection. It can cause vomiting, diarrhea and stern nausea moreover is responsible for food poisoning.

Staphylococcal infections are communicable and can be broadcasted from person to person. They can escort to skin infection like impetigo and food poisoning. The researches were carried out to how damaging microbes can prowl concealed in the car and ride beside inhabitants if not cleaning is carried out. Samples were taken from steering wheel, gear stick, car door handles, car mats and under the seats.

Samples were scrutinized in the laboratory and the results were shocking.  Staphylococcus was detected on steering wheel, the door and under the seats. Bacillus cereus was detected in dust and soil that was brought into car through shoes. In survey carried out by Halford seventy percent drivers admitted eating and drinking in the car and half said they left food remains in their vehicles.

Although many sprains of microbes are harmless, some can cause disagreeable illness. It is particularly important now the weather is becoming warmer, for people do not leave food debris in their cars such as Staphylococcus and Bacillus Cereus can flourish on even minute morsels, said Dr Anthony Hilton, reader in microbiology at Aston University.

He further said that those who eat in their cars should treat it as an extension of their home and maintain the same level of hygiene as they would in their dining room.
