In a new study researchers have revealed that by eating ginger you can ease your muscle pain caused due to heavy exercise. It can relieve the aches  from sports, due to gardening and due to heavy household work by taking a daily dose of ginger to as much a quarter.

Ginger has been used as a folk medication for centuries in various ailments like cold, flu and stomach infection and ginger is well known for having painkiller properties. But now researchers have shown that ginger is good particularly for anticipating muscle pain. Anything that could relieve that type of pain would be greatly welcomed by many people who were experiencing that, explained lead researcher Professor Patrick O’Connor, of the University of Georgia.

The anti-inflammatory effects of ginger has been seen in guinea pig but the effects of ginger in easing the pain of human muscles has been never examined appropriately. Ginger is well known for containing chemical which work in a same way as non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen do. It can be quite effective in relieving arthritis pain which has shown in earlier studies.

To confirm the relationship of ginger with easing pain, lead researcher Professor O’Connor aimed at two studies that involved thirty and forty participants who correspondingly took capsules that contained two gram of heat-treated ginger or placebo, for regular eleven days. On eight day of the study they were asked to lift the weight to encourage reasonable muscle injury in the arm.

Before the exercise, functions of arm, pain and inflammation were reviewed for three days. The chemical levels that are involved in feeling of pain were also calculated before and after the exercise. In the end of the studies it was found that daily intake of ginger reduced the encouraged pain caused by exercise up to twenty-five percent.
