Physical activity is good for the health of the heart. Walking is an important weapon for the women to fight against stroke. New study has found that women who walked more than two hours a week had lower risk of suffering from stoke than those who walked less than two hours a week. More active people generally demonstrate twenty five to thirty percent lower risk of stroke explained Jacob Sattelmair, the lead researcher of study.

For their study they investigate more than thirty nine thousand health women aged 45 years and more. These women need to report about their leisure time physical activity periodically during the study. After completion of study they found 579 women suffered from stroke. 473 cases of ischemic stroke were found and cause of stroke was blockage or blood clot supplying blood to the brain.

The most active women were seventeen percent less likely to suffer from stroke than least active women and the women who walked more than two hours a week cut their risk of stroke of any type by thirty percent. Those who walk at pace of three miles had thirty seven percent lower risk of suffering any type of stroke.

Risk of ischemic stroke could primarily be lowered through walking. These observations certainly add to the evidence that even moderate-intensity activity such as brisk walking is beneficial to the reduction of risk of strokes explained Dr. Frank Hu, of the Harvard School of Public Health.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death around the world after cancer and heart disease so this study is important because it demonstrates the desolating effects of stroke that includes difficulty in speech, loss of memory and reduced mobility. This study is proof why people should move to remain healthy.
