Multivitamin pills taken by women to treat illness can cause breast cancer, is found in new study. The study says that older or middle aged women who take vitamin supplements are at risk of developing tumour. Researchers said that this finding do not blame for increasing number of cancer cases. The unhealthy lifestyle opted by women could put them at increased risk of breast cancer.
Vitamin supplements could trigger growth of tumour as their use may increase the density of breast tissue which is causing factor for cancer. These supplements contain vitamins and minerals that may increase breast tissue more than five percent. Other causing factor for developing tumour is folic acid which is found in multivitamin pills and high dose of it may promote growth of tumour.
In their trail over thirty five thousands women ages between 45 years to 75 years they found that women who regularly took multivitamins were more likely to develop breast tumpour. Women who smoked and had family history of breast cancer had increased risk of breast tumour and they fund a significant link with use of multivitamins.
This study shows the association of use of multivitamins with an increased risk of developing breast cancer. Study also found that men taking vitamin supplements two times a day are more likely to develop prostate cancer in an aggressive form. Every year thousands of women are diagnosed with breast cancer all over the world and among nine women one has chance of developing breast cancer at some pint in life.
