Skin around our eyes is very sensitive and thin. This region has accumulation of blood vessels that make it prone to swelling easily. Over exposure to external environment can cause infection in this region. Due to conjunctivitis swelling of eyelids can be caused. Many times oil glands of eyelid get infected and swollen due to infection. Inflammation in eyes is also caused due to dust, smoke and mold. Some causes of swollen eyes are explained below
* Regular uses of contact lenses without clean properly and regular expose of eyes to for foreign particles can cause swelling in eyes.
* Excessive intake of alcohol and salt can cause puffiness around eyes.
* Excessive anxiety and stress can also cause swollen eyes.
* Many STD diseases such as herpes can also cause inflammation around eyes.
Home remedies for curing swollen eyes
* Soak a cotton swab in milk and put it over your eyes for few minutes.
* Take cubes of frozen rose water and rub your eyelids in circular motion gently will reduce the swelling and puffiness of your eyes.
* Add fresh cucumber juice with basil tea and freeze this mixture to form cube and massage your eyelids with this cube.
* Slice of cucumber or raw potato into thin piece and put them over your eyelids for few minutes twice a day can relieve swollen eyes.
* Add a few drops of witch hazel to an egg white, beat the mixture well then apply it over the eyelids. Wash it off gently with cold water after few minutes is another remedy for swollen eyes.
These remedies provide relief to overworked eyes and help to get rid of puffiness and dark circles around the eyes.
