New study has reveled that babies who do not crawl up to nine months are likely to suffer from learning and behavioral problems. Such babies struggle to get on with their classmates. Youngsters who delay with task of crawling had considerably increased their risk of lagging behind at school when they grow in age. Another study has shown that children who belong to poor families are a year behind than their rich companions when they start school.

Developmental problem can be identified in young age because it is directly linked with success at school. Scholars carried out a simple test on the babies of nine months old for checking their gross and fine motor skills. Muscles of your body are involved in a motor skill action. Large movements like crawling and running are known as gross motor skills. While small action like picking up an object between fingers is known as fine motor skills.

They found that in gross motor skills test that 96 % babies are able to sit up without any support, 92 % babies are able crawl and 69 % babies are able to sand if they hold some object. Only 4 % babies take a few steps. In fine motor skill test they found that 99 % babies are able to grasp an object, 95 % babies are able to pass toy from one hand to another and 89 % babies are able to pick an object with their fingers and thumb.

They conclude that developmental delay could affect about 10 % of babies. Toddlers who straggle with task of crawling have significantly increased their risk of falling behind at school when they are five. They are more likely to show unfriendly behavior like refuse to share their things.
