Alopecia Areata its symptoms and causes

Alopecia is a condition affecting humans, in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the body, usually from the scalp. Hair loss can be caused by different reasons, including damage to the hair shaft or follicles. Fungal infections can also cause hair loss. In this condition you find patchy spots without hair on scalp and hair loss on any part of the body. It occurs when your body’s immune system attacks on hair follicles and cause them to fall out.

Symptoms of Alopecia : Symptoms of alopecia includes thinning of hair or complete loss of hair in male hair pattern. In female gradual thinning of hair, especially on the top oh the head are seen. Some times due to alopecia hair are broken and can be removed easily. More round and oval bald patches are also seen in many cases.

Causes of Alopecia : It is caused due to genetic factors, people having family history of alopecia may suffer from it. The latest research shown that it is caused by an abnormality in the immune system that cause immune system to attack on particular tissues of the body. Chemical such as cytokines can cause alopecia.

Emotional or mental stress can cause alopecia. Other factor is environmental  pollution that can cause alopecia. Some times certain medication, pregnancy, use of birth control pills, malfunctioning of thyroid hormone, arthritis and anemia also cause alopecia. Wearing some hair style may also cause alopecia.
